Our research had us travel to many countries throughout Europe and Scandinavia in our pursuit to learn more about the fan bird and its history. We met with fan carvers, museum curators, ethnographers, and shopkeepers. As a result, we acquired quite a collection of fan birds.
The Many Styles of the Fan Bird
These birds are on exhibit at our studio and here for you to view and study. Even though there are different styles of fan birds, the consistent theme throughout these countries remains the same. The fan bird protects the home and brings health and happiness to the family.
By clicking on the links above, you will see the various artists, their creative versions of the fan bird, plus information about their techniques.
